September 2006
My daughter, 'Becca and I decided to spend the weekend riding my new FJR1300 up to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania to spend some time together before school starts, and to break in the new bike. We didn't really have any plans, no schedule and no real timeline. Just go, enjoy, come home when we were ready. It was great to get away, spend some one-on-one time and just hang out.

IMG_2961.JPG - Now that she knows the camera is on her, she hams it up!
IMG_2962.JPG - Snapped a few pics of 'Becca in her riding gear, and on my bike, while we stopped for a quick rest in Williamsport, PA. I spared you the pictures of all the traffic - it's "World Series of Little League" this week. YIKES!

IMG_2965.JPG - LOOK! A DEER!!
I couldn't hear her whispers, trying not to scare the deer behind me. Finally she said it loud enough, and when I turned, I just saw the last one bounding thru' the river, then running off into the forest.

IMG_2970.JPG - So we rode throughout the day to get to Wellsboro, PA. Of course, we were an hour away from our destination and it started raining. So, we got checked in, unpacked the bike, dried off, and after the rain slowed down an intermittent drizzle, we went out to get a bite to eat. Then we took a ride up to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania's West Rim Lookout. Driving up there, this fog bank was moving in and made for some cool, eerie pictures. Of course, the FJR still looks great, day or night, clear skies or fog!

IMG_2972.JPG - After turning in for the evening, the next morning had us bright eyed and bushy-tailed. More or less. I started packing up the bike, while 'Becca was trying to wake up. She eventually did, of course AFTER I finished packing up the bike. Go figure.
IMG_2973.JPG - This bird was sitting atop this cut tree yelling at me the entire time I was trying to pack the bike up. Annoying little guy.
IMG_2974.JPG - Made for a cool 1st curtain flash silouette, tho'.
IMG_2976.JPG - And this guy, quite possibly the largest spider I've ever seen alive, was looking at me hungrily while I hurried up and packed up the bike. The body on this critter was almost an inch long. icky!
IMG_2977.JPG - Finally 'Becca emerges from the cabin and helps with the last bag and suits up to get going.

IMG_2982.JPG - After we got all packed up, and fueled up, we went for breakfast at the Wellsboro Diner. Good stuff! Then we rode up to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania's East rim, and hung out, walked around, shot a few pictures and talked to some other riders visiting the canyon. After that, we took a spirited ride thru' the mountains, and eventually made our way South and East and back home.
